Over 10 years ago, London United Competitive Soccer Club pioneered opportunities for their youth players to achieve a university/college educations while competing at the highest NCAA levels of soccer. The initial group of players were on the boys side that competed in the Capital Cup in Fairfax, Virginia and Tampa Bay Sun Bowl in Florida in 1993 and 1994. From that squad that went down on these two tournaments, an unprecedented 12 players received scholarships to various NCAA Division I, II and III schools.

In 1997, with the increasing interest and development of our female program, many players wanted to explore opportunities in the U.S. The success of our female program came to an ultimate fruition this past year with four players receiving full scholarships to NCAA Division I universities.

Over the past few years the scholarship program has enjoyed tremendous success. It started with Jamie Workman leaving for Lee McRae College Div. II in S.C.; Katie Nadalin - Ball State University Div. I in Muncie, IN; Emily Cairncross - University of Tennessee Div. 1AA in Martin, TN; Katie Hunter - Northwood University in Midland, MI. It all culiminated in 2002 with four players from the program receiving full scholarships to NCAA Division I universities. Stephanie Elgie is attending Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, FL. Cassandra Van Leeuwen is at University of Vermont in Burlington, VT and Emma O'Connor and Sheena Cussen at Mississippi Valley State in Itta Bena, MS.

London United has established many long term relationships with various NCAA coaches throughout the States. It is through many of these relationships and networkings that has opened the doors of opportunity for many of our players. This year's Orange Classic Tournament is the continuation of a model of success.

In the past 10 years, LondonUTD has placed over 60 players into full scholarships with US colleges.
